How to join

Welcome to Troop 255. Below is a checklist to help you manage the steps of joining our scouting family. 

1. Download and complete the BSA Youth Application

2. Give the completed application to Assistant Scoutmaster Tom Rose or Scoutmasters Chris Gill or Mark Riley

3. Dues for BSA and Troop 255 are a combined $295 for an existing BSA scout - payable to "Friends of Scouting 255"

   • Included in the fee:

     • BSA National registration fee

     • National Capital Area Council (NCAC) registration fee

     • Scouts BSA Handbook for girls or boys

     • Troop 255 t-shirt

     • Troop 255 uniform unit patch and green shoulder loops

     • All badges, pins, etc. earned as advancement during the year

4. Purchase a uniform shirt at the Scout Shop - 9190 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814; 9:30 - 5:00 M - F

   • Pants, hat, belt, merit badge sash, etc. are optional

5. Complete the adult survey (< 5 mins.)

6. Begin attending our weekly meetings, Tuesdays from 7:30 - 8:30 PM at Chevy Chase United Methodist Church

7. Sync our Troop Google Calendar

8. Log into our t255.org website to register for outings (we will create an account)

9. Join our Troop 255 listserv on groups.io (we will send an invitation)
