Heritage Reservation Camp Liberty - Summer 2017!
Boy Scout Summer Camp is a great opportunity for fun and merit badges. As you may know, Troop 255 rotates summer camps to keep the experience fresh. We’ll be going to Heritage Reservation Camp Liberty in Farmington, PA on June 25-July 1, 2017. Camp Liberty is a Boy Scout resident camp that focuses on the patrol method. Scouts prepare their own meals as patrols in the campsite. The ingredients are provided by camp and picked up from the Commissary. (NOTE: This makes Camp Liberty an excellent opportunity to earn the Cooking Merit Badge.) Steve Surko is coordinating our preparations and will lead our contingent.
Please register online as soon as possible and provide your payment to Todd Rosentover or Steve Surko (check payable to BSA Troop 255). Online registration is free, but payment in full by check is required by the appropriate deadline. The cost is a slight increase over last summer, but includes a Troop 255 T-shirt:
$420 – Early Bird ($200 due March 21, balance due April 15 after mulch credits are calculated))
$465 – Regular (due May 23)
$510 – Late (due June 24)
These costs are based on a conservative estimate of 24 Scouts. But if fewer than 24 Scouts register there may be a small surcharge. (NOTE: There is an additional charge of $50 for Day Trek (including ATV Adventure) and Water Sports Merit Badge and $25 for Shotgun Shooting Merit badge.)
Laurel Highlands Council, which runs Heritage Reservation, has posted their 2017 Guidebook online. Please review the merit badge offerings – and schedule – provided in the Guidebook. Steve Surko will provide an overview of Heritage Reservation Camp Liberty to the Troop and adult leaders will assist interested Scouts in developing their merit badge programs. Merit Badge and activity registration opens on April 15. Steve Surko will enter Troop 255’s selections on April 15.
Troop 255 is looking for 3 adult leaders to join Steve Surko at Heritage Reservation Camp Liberty. Adult volunteers can split a week if that works best. There is no charge for adult volunteers.
All Scouts and Leaders must have their BSA Annual Health & Medical Record (680-001 ABC, see link below) and Supplemental Medical Form with updated doctor’s signature before going to camp. Steve Surko will collect all forms prior to departure, but they are not required for registration.
Contact Assistant Scoutmaster Steve Surko at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
