Still plenty of room for scouts and adults!  Please let Mr. Barringer know!  This is a fun and doable trip that's easier to fit in a schedule than many of the other summer activities.  A great opportunity!

Who had fun this past weekend at Dolly Sods? Or on other backpacking trips this year? If you enjoy backpacking - and you're not going to Philmont this summer - here's a trip you may enjoy!

I am organizing - if we have interest - a trip on the Appalachian Trail in August - likely from Wednesday, August 3rd to Sunday, August 7th. We may have some flexibility on the dates depending on interest and availability.

As you probably know, the Appalachian Trail is a 2,160 mile long footpath that runs from Maine to Georgia - including sections close to us in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Our trip would take us on a portion that's about 55 miles long - from Route 40 in MD (near Hagerstown) to Pine Grove Furnace State Park in Pennsylvania. No age limits, but we'd have mandatory pre-hikes and prep sessions beforehand. We'd likely be able to make substantial progress towards the Hiking Merit Badge. This would also as I understand it qualify as a troop HIgh Adventure.

Mr. Rose is potentially willing to be the second adult, but more adults are definitely welcome. And, Scouts, please let me know by the May 3rd meeting if you are interested!
